We often get asked for advice professional skin treatments and which ones really walk the walk. It's not our real area of expertise so we thought who better to give us some tips than founder & owner of No.6 clinic in Tunbridge Wells, Kent (4x winner of the Muddy Stilettos award), Samantha Clarke.
Hi Samantha, tell us a bit about your journey in beauty
After working in the industry for a few years as an aesthetic Nurse, I became very interested in the new cosmeceutical product ranges that were emerging, which claimed to renew skin cells, stimulate collagen and elastin without any recovery or downtime. I tried out all the products & advanced facials I could and grilled the founders about the science and results, I was obsessed! In 2005 I was confident enough to branch out on my own. I rented a room in a local medical practice, took out a small bank loan, did the minimum order on MD Formulation #skincare and leased the #Omnilux machine.
The facial forms our whole philosophy...maintaining healthy skin is essential in keeping a fresh, youthful, complexion through the decades and this is at the very core of our ethos at No.6.
What is your approach to achieving youthful-looking skin?
We treat the skin with a holistic approach - we offer non-invasive and injectable treatments, both alongside professional standard, clinically-proven products during treatment and prescribed for at-home, and facial yoga exercises for clients to follow at home to really optimise treatment plans and maintain results for as long as possible. Everyone is different so we tailor the plan to the individual, and offer support through the whole process.
What was the first treatment you started providing at No.6?
The first piece of equipment I leased was an Omnilux machine, for it’s impressive anti-ageing results - this is still what we use in our popular Power Facial treatment. The machine emits LED light into the skin, which stimulates cell activity, promotes blood flow to the skin which in turn increases oxygen levels in the skin and the cell detoxification process. The results are firmer, plumper, more hydrated skin, with a softening of fine lines and wrinkles. It also improves product penetration after use, so is particularly effective when combined with professional grade products during treatment.
How have you expanded the treatment offering since?
We're constantly striving to give our clients the best bespoke results-driven facial, whilst adding the latest innovations and special touches to ensure that it is the most anticipated appointment in the diary.
We have expanded our anti-ageing treatments menu to include a microcurrent facial, which acts like a workout for the face by applying low level electricity to the skin to stimulate the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production. We also offer a Photofacial, which utilises IPL (intense pulsed light) to target pigmentation, broken capillaries, as well as wrinkle-reduction and overall texture improvement.
For those with congested or acne-prone skin we offer peels, microdermabrasion and High Frequency (an anti-bacterial device which kills off acne-causing bacteria in the area).
All treatments are bespoke to a client’s requirements every time they visit, and we also offer a 30 minute skin consultation (redeemable against products/treatments) where we analyse the skin and discuss the treatment options in detail to give you full peace of mind before starting any course of treatment.
Thanks Samantha! We have really enjoyed hearing about your journey and about the treatments you offer at No.6.
